This year, Bolton Town Hall is celebrating its 150th anniversary. Officially opened on 5th June 1873 by the then Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) and his wife Princess Alexandra, the building has played - and continues to play - a central role in Bolton life.

From celebrating the return of peacetime after two World Wars to forming an impressive backdrop to the Ironman UK finish line, the Town Hall is synonymous with local life.

Dressing Bolton Town Hall with custom large-format graphics & signage

Impression's team was delighted to be asked to support Bolton Council as it prepared for the 150th anniversary celebrations, which included dressing the Town Hall with large format, external graphics. It was important that our graphics communicated the anniversary message but complemented the Town Hall, rather than covering up or taking attention away from the building's instantly recognisable features.

Design & production of a custom presentation box fit for a King!

A visit to Bolton by King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla got the 150th anniversary celebrations underway on 20th January.

It was the first visit to the town by a monarch in around 35 years, with a reception inside the Town Hall planned to include meetings with local dignitaries and representatives from local community organisations including Bolton Holiday Activities & Food (HAF), a programme funded by the Department for Education and coordinated by Bolton Council to support children and families with creative and engaging sports, physical activity and food sessions daily during school holidays.

Impression was asked to design and produce a sustainable presentation box to support #TeamBolton's 'Grow-Your-Own' scheme, which encourages participants to grow fruit, vegetables and herbs themselves. Our unique box was created entirely in-house by our Bolton design and print team, before being filled with seedlings by the HAF team.

The King was presented with his own Grow Box during his visit, so he can enjoy some home-grown produce too! Congratulations to Bolton Council and the Town Hall team on their successful event, which was a fantastic showcase for Bolton.
