Impression worked alongside Lancashire County Council to produce a scheme comprising wall graphics and displays, window and floor vinyls, outdoor signage and sustainably-produced, bespoke props that would come together to create an immersive and educational experience which will be enjoyed by school students, community groups and members of the public.

Educating Lancashire’s local community through Eco Town’s immersive visual branding

Lancashire County Council wanted to create a fun and engaging experience to educate young visitors on the recycling lifecycle. Eco Town showcases where our waste goes, with a focus on recycling, where learners gain insight into waste management, dispelling myths and sharing how we can all do our bit to reduce waste and recycle more.

Set within Lancashire County Council’s Farington Education Centre, the Eco Town walkway features large format printed wall graphics and educational displays created and installed by Impression, digital screens and interactive exhibits, aiming to promote sustainable habits and fostering long-term behaviour change towards environmental stewardship.

Councillor Jayne Rear, Lancashire County Council’s cabinet member for Education and Skills says, "The walkway will be a great asset to our local community and the schools and colleges that we have across Lancashire. It's really important that children from a very young age learn about recycling and how they can help to look after the environment."

Bright, bold & eye-catching large format wall graphics

Impression's specialist visual branding team was chuffed to work with Lancashire County Council on such an important educational project. Following our Consult phase work with the client to understand the local authority’s goals, ideas and inspiration for the centre, as well as timescales and project budget, Impression prepared Eco Town’s large format wall graphics and display artwork in house, in collaboration with our client’s marketing and project team, designing, printing and finally, installing wall graphics throughout the Eco Town walkway.

Our team created colourful and inspiring large format wall artwork to engage children and other visitors as they make their way round the centre, communicating important information about our regional and local eco system.

Crystal-clear graphics and offset lettering are paired to create dynamic wall art that engages and captivates visitors. Impression’s Design team ensured wall graphics and displays were child friendly to attract and appeal to visitors of all ages, making Eco Town a space where everybody can learn. Wall graphics run throughout the educational walkway experience, maintaining a consistent format which helps to take the visitors on a learning journey through the recycling system.

Maximising visual branding opportunities throughout Eco Town with floor & window vinyls

Our vision was to make effective use of the open spaces throughout the centre to make the experience as engaging as possible. Sturdy floor and window vinyls add this effect throughout Eco Town, maintaining consistently colourful themes alongside wall displays and themed areas. Making use of natural light and the spaces available, colours from the window vinyls reflect through into the walkway, captivating the senses and keeping students and visitors engaged.

Impression uses durable and hardwearing materials when producing floor and window vinyls, helping products retain their eye-catching appeal whilst withstanding heavy use in frequent traffic areas such as the Eco Town walkway.

Wayfinding, entrance & directional external signage at Eco Town for Lancashire County Council

Helping visitors to safely find their way to the entrance and carpark of the building is as important as the graphics and artwork inside. Robust external signage was installed by Impression’s team, designed to attract and appeal to passers-by, as well as helping visitors find their way to the building. The external sign designs maintain the same theme as the internal artwork to immerse visitors in the experience from the moment they arrive on site.

Impression’s external signage products are designed and manufactured in-house by our own team, using hardwearing and long-lasting material that will withstand whatever weather Lancashire throws at it!

Sustainable props create a fully bespoke, eco-led experience for Lancashire County Council

Bespoke props and standees are a great way to create another dynamic layer in a space such as Eco Town. Impression’s team created a life-sized tree from sustainable, engineered cardboard, that has become a statement piece for Eco Town, as well as a wayfinding signpost produced from the same materials to direct visitors as they make the way through the experience.

Impression eco, our environmentally-conscious initiative and innovative range of sustainable print, signage and large format products, was implemented throughout this project, reflecting key values of Eco Town itself. Our Impression eco product range comprises carbon-neutral and PVC-free materials including recycled and recyclable paper and card, paper board and PVC-free films, selected for their consistency in quality, ease of application and practicality of large-scale implementation.
