Following Jodrell Bank's recent launch of its new branding, Impression was pleased to be appointed by the University of Manchester to roll out the brand with directional, branding and outreach signage across this important UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Impression enjoys an excellent working relationship with the University of Manchester, and our work with this leading university extends to its Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre site in Macclesfield, Cheshire.

Previously, Impression has proudly undertaken a raft of work for the Jodrell Bank team, including external and internal signage, construction hoardings, outreach signage, wayfinding and directional signage and production of crystal-clear print for photography displays and exhibitions, both indoors and outdoors. We were recently proud to help the University launch Jodrell Bank's rebrand on site.

A world-class visitor attraction & research centre for the University of Manchester

Jodrell Bank is an important visitor attraction for the North West, as well as forming an integral part of the University of Manchester's research portfolio. The UNESCO World Heritage Site's new First Light Pavilion is a major development, opened in June 2022 and comprising a unique architect-designed building housing new exhibition and education spaces.

In advance of the opening of the First Light Pavilion, Jodrell Bank launched its new branding. Dropping the 'Discovery Centre' name, redefining the brand and launching a new-look visual identity, Jodrell Bank's dynamic branding now reflects the purpose of the site, the work it does, and its mission and purpose.

Working with the brand's bold new assets and artwork supplied by the client's team and branding partners, Impression created impactful external signage schemes including:

βœ” Outreach signage and flags to line walkways in the site

βœ” Two-post signs by site entrances and exits

βœ” Larger three-post signs featuring stunning site photography of the Lovell Telescope

βœ” Outdoor display and site information signage

βœ” Directional and wayfinding signage throughout the site and its buildings

βœ” Cafe menu displays

Our Consult phase enabled us to get to grips with the new brand, developing a good understanding of how Jodrell Bank's new brand is built, its colours and both the visual and messaging impact that's important to the client team. With a thorough brand portfolio and utilising spectacular photography, signage artwork from our client was striking and will make an instant impact on visitors and those using Jodrell Bank for education and research.

In-house production & installation of Jodrell Bank's external signage for the University of Manchester

Supporting this busy site and continuing to make an impact for years to come, Impression's products are manufactured in-house by our Create team using robust, hardwearing materials which will withstand strong visitor numbers, as well as the weather in this rural part of Cheshire. Impression is committed to delivering products to the highest standards, and our production process is quality-assured throughout to consistently meet both print and timescale expectations.

Installation was fully-managed by our experienced Deliver team. With several Jodrell Bank installations already under our belts, we know the site well and installation of initial brand rollout signage and graphics was completed over a couple of phases.

We will continue to work with the University and Jodrell Bank teams to implement the new brand and maintain the impactful brand visuals throughout the site's development.
