Bolton Food & Drink Festival was back for 2021 over the August bank holiday weekend, bringing visitors and residents out into Bolton town centre to enjoy fantastic food and drink, themed events, family fun and locally-made products by a huge range of traders.

Demos from renowned chefs including Simon Wood, Jean-Christophe Novelli and Nigel Haworth, street performers and live music on stages across Bolton entertained more than 400,000 people over the weekend, with local people happy to be enjoying the Festival safely and in great weather.

Impression was proud to once again work with Bolton Food & Drink Festival as the event's visual branding partner, alongside other event partners including Aldi, Warburtons, Bolton Wanderers FC, Carrs Pasties, City Fibre, Market Place Shopping Centre and Robertson FM. We very much value our involvement in the Festival, and this year's event builds on those of previous years.

Bringing traditional seaside fun to Bolton Food & Drink Festival 

Impression was asked to deliver the Family Seaside Zone for 2021. Our brief included the creation of interactive sideshow stands in keeping with the traditional British seaside theme, such as a 'Hook a Duck' stall, Coconut Shy and Tin Can Alley.

An indoor beach had children getting stuck into sandcastle building, a peep board made for fun photo memories and our unique props brought engaging strongmen shows to the stage!

With all events indoors under a marquee, the games and activities could take place whatever the weather.

Professional Chef Zone styling & visual branding

Impression's team was also briefed to brand and style the Chef Zone, which featured cookery demonstrations from talented chefs throughout the Festival. Transforming an empty retail unit, the Chef Zone was a collaborative project led by Bolton Council's Marketing team.

Impression's work here created a welcoming and professional event area, with a brief which included:

  • Internal graphics to brand the chefs' kitchen area

The Chef Zone is always a popular part of the Food & Drink Festival, and we were pleased to see so many people enjoying demonstrations of a wide range of cuisine by chefs across all four days of the event.

Impression's work for Bolton Food & Drink Festival 2021 was backed by years' of experience, strong relationships with our client and great understanding of Bolton Council's requirements and expectations for the event itself.

Consult enabled us to understand our client's vision for the Family Seaside Zone and Chef Zone areas, tapping into creative ideas which would bring the theme to life and engage visitors whilst remaining achievable in temporary spaces and within the client's timescales and budget.

Design is where our team could stretch our creative legs! Working together, we devised products, designs and a range of props which would catch the eye and capture that feeling of the Great British seaside holiday, whilst keeping themes more neutral and classic for the Chef Zone.

Create was professionally managed throughout, ensuring all materials were printed with crystal-clear quality to the highest standards and with every piece, from window vinyls and wall artwork to props, Coconut Shy and Hook a Duck, ready on time for installation during event set-up.

Deliver, managed by Installation Manager Paul, is handled efficiently and with great care, ensuring all products are installed safely given the public nature of the event. Impression also attends post-event to take down all materials, restoring each Zone when no longer needed.
