Brockholes Nature Reserve, Lancashire

Visual branding to enhance
visitor village experiences

The brief

Owned and operated by The Wildlife Trust’s regional branch, Brockholes is a 250-acre nature reserve set in a former quarry near Preston, Lancashire. Restored and remodelled by the Trust, the site has been developed to create much-needed natural habitats for hundreds of species, including a shallow lake, deeper water areas, reedbeds and wet grassland.

Over 1 million visitors have visited Brockholes since its launch in 2011, with thousands enjoying the walking and cycling trails around the site each year, as well as attending weddings and other events. Facilities and amenities are essential to visitor experiences, and the Trust worked with Impression to devise and implement a visual branding scheme to the visitor village which will immerse all those on site in Brockholes’ unique natural surroundings.

Consult

Working in partnership with The Wildlife Trust’s regional team, Impression’s Consult phase resulted in a wildlife-themed scheme which incorporated window graphics, vinyls, information displays and internal signage in styles consistent with the Trust’s corporate brand identity.

Experienced in working with visitor attractions across Lancashire, Manchester and the North West, Impression’s team planned the production and signage installation schedule for Brockholes over several phases to limit disruption to visitors and species on site during the busy summer period.

Design

Brand identity is critical to an engaging visitor experience at a site such as Brockholes, maximising brand visibility to immerse those on site in The Wildlife Trust’s values and goals.

Our client’s artwork was supplied to our in-house Design team in line with brand specifications and corporate brand guidelines, before being prepared for print by our studio team. Print artwork preparation was quality-assured throughout, with excellent communication between Impression and our client team to progress the project in line with the planned installation timeframe.

Create

All window graphics, vinyls, internal signage and large-format graphics were printed and quality-assured by Impression’s Create team at our Greater Manchester base. Consistency and clarity of print was monitored throughout by our Production Manager, who scheduled delivery of the project to meet planned installation dates.

Our team specified tried-and-tested materials for Brockholes’ printed window vinyls, window graphics, large format graphics print and wayfinding signage, relied upon by our visitor attraction clients to deliver lasting performance for busy sites in all weathers.

Deliver

Accommodating Brockholes’ busy summer period, Impression installed our visitor village graphics and signage at this Lancashire site over a number of phases.

Impression’s experienced in-house installation team completed the timely delivery of all window graphics, large format graphics and signage products, quality-checking installation throughout to ensure products will not only last throughout the seasons, but bring to life this immersive and engaging visitor experience for our Lancashire visitor attraction client.
